A (not really) in-depth look at art styles, symbolism and story-telling in KPOP MVs, as well as how teaser videos help to build a fan base for rookie groups.
This blog has been started as part of an assignment for a Digital Writing Genres course I'm taking at Uni, but I might continue writing it after the course finishes, if I get the time.
Some of the things I write about here won't be purely from my own brain, some of them will be taken from ideas other people have had. But I'll make sure to credit the people who've had the ideas at the end of my posts! (Please don't kill me, I love all the people who help me figure out what my brain doesn't know!)
Firstly, I'll be writing about the use of art styles, symbolism and story-telling in the wonderful world of KPOP (South Korean Pop Music for all you newbies). I'll be focusing on MVs by YG Entertainment’s T.O.P, BigHit Entertainment’s BTS, LOEN Tree’s HISTORY and SM Entertainment’s Amber.
Then I'll be writing about the use of teaser videos and how they help to build excitement and establish a fan base for rookie groups before their official debut. I'll be focusing on SM Entertainment’s boy group EXO, who are no longer rookies but made great use of teaser videos when they debuted in April of 2012, and Pledis Entertainment’s boy group SEVENTEEN, who debuted in May of 2015.
Finally, I'll be reviewing EXO's first group K-Drama, EXO Next Door (우리 옆집에 EXO가산다) and giving each of it's elements a score out of ten.
